About Us

TeriTeri Nava-Anderson, PhD, CD(DONA)

Teri is a DONA International-certified Birth Doula and has a PhD from Stanford University. She also has advanced breastfeeding training and is an accredited La Leche League Leader, serving as a co-Leader for the Livermore and Mountain House communities. Teri has also trained as a Dancing for Birth instructor, and has received advanced doula training in acupressure for labor and birth, rebozo use for comfort and relaxation, optimal fetal positioning (Spinning Babies), mindfulness, support for trauma survivors, hypnosis for childbirth, and placenta processing. She is well versed in and a practioner of both the Hypnobirthing (Mongan) and Hypnobabies methods of self-hypnosis and guided meditation for childbirth. She also mentors new doulas and leads advanced doula training workshops.

JenniferJennifer Kara, CD, CPD

Jennifer is a certified Birth and Postpartum Doula through Intuitive Doula, and and Instructor of Whole Birth Yoga and Yoga 'n Play, for moms and babies. She has 17 years of experience and a passion for empowering women and their partners to navigate the powerful rite of passage of birth. She has 20 years of experience and study in anthropology, women's studies, yoga and the intuitive wisdom of the body, mindfulness, communication training, and natural healing methods including massage, herbalism, aromatherapy, and visualization.

SusanSusan Jessee, CD, PCD, CBE

Susan is an Birth Doula and Childbirth Educator certified by the American Academy of Husband Coached Childbirth (AAHCC) and a Postpartum Doula certified through DONA International. She has 12 years experience in teaching Bradley Method Childbirth Classes and is passionate about supporting the laboring mother and her partner before, during, and after the laboring process. She is experienced in attending both home and hospital births. She is currently working with Pregnancy Resource Center in Tracy as a Childbirth Preparation Instructor and teaches Parenting Classes through the Stein School for teen moms.

MelissaMelissa Battle-Maruca, CD(SPD)

Melissa is Birth Doula certified through Still Birth Day. She is an experienced Bradley Childbirth practitioner and assistant instructor. Melissa has a background in Child Development, Education and Psychology, and an interest in special needs and high needs children. Melissa brings to our team her personal experience and expertise with premature labor and birth, and the challenges of parenting in the NICU and breastfeeding a premature baby. She brings excellent skills in communication and listening, massage, visualization and meditation practices to help during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period.
