These gentle but strengthening prenatal yoga classes are suitable for every stage of pregnancy. You can begin the day you find out you're pregnant and carry on right through the day you deliver. No prior experience of yoga is necessary. In WBY classes, we stretch, relax, strengthen and rejuvenate while in the company of other pregnant women. It's a unique time to gather and support each other. Prenatal yoga is an excellent way to stay in touch with and respond to the ever changing pregnant body. Most of us often spend a lot of time in cerebral pursuits or jobs and it helps to shift out of this perspective to give birth. Prenatal yoga gives us a great opportunity to practice spending more time cultivating our ability to tune into and listen to our body while we move through yoga poses that help address common aches and pains of pregnancy. Prenatal yoga builds mental, physical and emotional strength while providing comfort and relaxation during this amazingly transformative time in a woman's life.
In addition to the traditional yoga poses and stretches, Jennifer provides tips on dealing with labor and pregnancy ailments and creates an environment of emotional support among all the participants. This class was ideal in preparing for birth, both physically and emotionally.
Jennifer has been practicing and studying yoga since 1993. She studied primarily with traditional Hatha Yoga master teachers, Julianne Rice and Richard Parenti and Whole Birth Yoga and Support Founder, Robin Sale. In collaboration with master teacher Julianne Rice, she wrote the manual to and co-facilitated the first Yoga n' Play Teacher Training.
When you attend a class offered by Jennifer you will be received by a welcoming, supportive teacher who is keen to share the mental, emotional and physiological benefits of Hatha Yoga with her students. Jennifer encourages her students to use the practices and philosophies of yoga and mindfulness to investigate and ultimately become empowered by what they find in their yoga poses.
As a Certified Whole Birth Yoga teacher and Intuitive Doula and a trained Yoga n' Play instructor, Jennifer combines her love of yoga with her passion for pregnancy, labor, birth, and the work of early mothering. A mother of two, she credits her own yoga background and specifically the Whole Birth Yoga and support classes for helping her births to be natural, empowering experiences.
